On June 4, 2008, Travis Alexander was murdered in his house in Mesa, Arizona. He sustained multiple stab wounds, a slit throat, and a gunshot wound to the head. Jodi Arias, Alexander's ex-girlfriend, was charged with first-degree murder for his death. At trial, she testified that she killed Alexander in self-defense. She was convicted of first-degree murder on May 8, 2013. The murder and trial received widespread media attention.
